Pink Parlour Arcadia, California

I'm a little late in posting but better late than never!  I was able to make it to the Pink Parlour Show at the Santa Anita racetrack in Arcadia, CA.  The show looked great and had so many great vendors.  I met several fellow Etsians at the show, like Nicole of HoneyChild Designs.

I will be showing at Unique LA in the LA Mart, downtown Los Angeles May 2 & 3.  They are expecting over 250 vendors so if you are in the LA area stop by and say hi!

Felt Club 2008 - Fabulous!

It's a true pleasure to be in the presence of creative, unique, inspiring and enthusiastic people such as those designers who showed at Felt Club this year! Congrats to all who organized and showed. Hope it was great for you!

Despite the horrific fires in So. Cal this weekend the event still drew a huge crowd. That speaks volumes of the dedication to indie-design-lovers and the market for handmade goods.

Not only is it a great shopping opportunity but it's just a fun event to go to, period. This year's event housed 125 different designers and featured dj's spinning, craft workshops, live performances, swap-o-rama, food and yes, even wine and beer. Good times for sure. EVEN if you don't love indie arts and design, you'd love the energy of this event. If you didn't make it this year - check it out in 2009! I hope to show next year! http://www.reveriestudio.etsy.com/

Recycled, Repurposed Jewelry

Yay! Two of my designs incorporating repurposed findings have sold. I started a jewelry category that blends old, random metal pieces with semi precious stones and sterling silver. I lovingly refer to this series as Gorgeous Grunge. I had a whopping 2 pieces in this series. Woo hoo..... I meant to add more but you know, got busy and sidetracked with other things.

So, a lovely lady purchased both Gorgeous Grunge styles this evening and it has inspired me to add more repurposed and recycled materials to my jewelry. I'll be seeking out nuts, bolts, miscellaenous pieces and doo dads to blend with new materials for Gorgeous Grunge starting tomorrow. Hmmm, that's ambitious...maybe over the weekend. Until then here are the sold pieces ....

Amazonite Faceted Pear Stone on Recycled Matte Metal Circles. $12.00

Amethyst Tear Drop Brilliant Stone on Shiny Metal Donut Form $14.00

Thought for the day.....don't give up......

In general, it's a challenge to stay positive. It takes work....daily work. It's especially hard in these times and by these times you all know what I mean. Pick a crisis, any crisis. How do you keep going?

I have a little book (and it actually is little) that I go to for a pick me up. Just about every night I pick it up, open to a random page and read that page several times. The book is called "Finding Strength in Difficult Times" by the late and great David Viscott. Whatever your difficult time may be, or honestly, just about any average day, you'll find something in this book to pick you up and usually make you go "hmmmm", in a reflective, slap-in-the-face, why don't I ever see the obvious, kind of way.

Last night I happened to read this and decided to share it today, as it's kept playing in my head all day long and really can apply to any situation. Here it is:

Don't Give Up
Let the positive forces in your life take over.
You have to risk rejection to get what you want.
You have to risk failure to find success.
Learn to cherish, not lament.
Find the ally, not the enemy.
Remember your long term goals during your short term problems.
Instead of imagining negative things that fill you with terror, invent positive things that fill you with purpose.
Don't give up, give more.

Plastic Pendants - buy 2 get 1 FREE!

Plastic pendants are taking over! Various half-complete pendants are strewn about my desk, waiting for their resin seal and then, their golden moment on etsy. All of the plastic pendants are buy 2 get 1 free through October- a great deal!

I'm really trying to branch out beyond my favorite designs: birds, trees, flowers, leaves.... so I have many new styles which will be posted this week as well as a couple of new shapes- squares, long rectangles.

Plastic pendants make adorable, youthful and interesting jewelry pieces. They are lightweight and versatile. You can switch them easily to a different chain, layer them, add to a bracelet, etc. Each is sealed with a double coat of resin to protect the image and give it a glossy durable surface.

Check them out! Great gifts too! http://www.reveriestudio.etsy.com/

Fall is in the air...

Can you feel it? The air is different, the light is softer and warmer, the leaves are slowly turning and letting go of summer. It's effortlessly becoming Fall and I love it. It's my favorite time of year.

On a recent walk I came across a beautiful leaf splashed with red over what was once green and now barely shows through. Changing leaves are a once a year treat that always makes me smile. The colors I saw on the walk inspired me to make something fallish in design. This is what transpired... I hope you like it. More to come I'm sure.
